Proofreading
This service involves checking for errors in spelling, grammar, style, sense and consistency, usually against copy or supporting materials, whether that be for educational manuscripts, fiction, non-fiction, or websites and blogs.

I don't always check documents against copy. Sometimes a fresh pair of eyes without knowing the history is all that's needed to bring new life to words. 'Blind' proofreads and 'Cold reads' using track changes and comment tools can offer suggestions for improving content and readability.

This is where copy editing comes in.

Whether it's using Track changes in Word or Digital mark-up in Adobe Pro, or good old red pen, necessary changes to layout, text, style and illustrations or artwork can be picked up for design to implement before the first round of proofing stages.
