My Story

Since creating my business in 2010, I've successfully worked on an extensive range of publications for major UK and US publishers, with a principal focus on Adult, Primary and Secondary level Teaching materials for the English Language Teaching sector.

Latterly, with virtual learning increasingly replacing traditional methods of teaching, I've been regularly involved with aiding the development of digital products for Business English Learners for the AMELT and BELT markets.

These projects have involved the following skills:

  • Proofreading layouts to finals utilising BSI proofreading symbols and PDF comment and mark-up tools

  • Asset mark-up for conversion of Print materials to Digital components

  • Alpha-RC functionality testing of Digital products

  • Asset preparation and migrations

  • American and British English versioning

  • Answer Key compilations

  • App functionality testing, bug-tracking and in-platform editing

  • Manuscript writing

  • Artwork brief compilation and photo research

  • Content and Copy editing manuscripts

  • Sub-editing 1st/2nd proofs

  • Online editing of digital content for on-screen Business English lessons and classes (including using PowerPoint and Google Sheets)

My proofreading journey began when the traditional BSI system of symbols - a shorthand language of red, blue and green markings in pen set within the text and the margins - was the norm.

Nowadays, Adobe Pro and Microsoft Office make up my editorial toolkit, enabling me to meet the ever-growing demand for online, interactive digital products that can be downloaded swiftly and accessed globally.

I also have established links with companies local to me:

I also co-run a monthly freelance community group to bring fellow home-workers and freelance businesses together, wherein we can share business experiences, tips and advice and feel connected to other local entrepreneurs.
